Privacy
The Curtain is a publication website. We collect as little as possible, we sell nothing, and this page explains what happens when you visit.
What we collect
- Nothing by default. Browsing this site requires no account and no consent banner, because we set no tracking cookies of our own.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested — for security and abuse prevention, typically for a short retention period.
- Emails you send us. If you contact us, we keep your message and address only as long as needed to reply.
Advertising
Content on this site is free. To keep it free, we show advertising, and ad partners (such as Google AdSense/Ad Manager) use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Where required, a consent banner will ask before any ad cookie is set. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can opt out of personalised advertising via your browser settings and at adssettings.google.com.
Analytics
If we measure traffic, we use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics without cross-site tracking. We do not use analytics to build profiles of individual readers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold almost none, these requests are usually quick. Write to privacy@thecurtain.example and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes and, for material changes, we will note it on the site.
